A delegation of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations called on Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema in Islamabad on Monday.

The delegation, led by its representative Florence Rolle apprised the Minister about the FAO projects for development of agriculture and food sector in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the FAO can play a key role in transforming the agriculture industry.    

He said Pakistan is facing a lot of challenges including climate change which is directly linked to agriculture and these challenges need to be addressed as a whole.

Briefing the Minister about FAO’s work, Florence Rolle said the organization is leading 35 projects in agriculture worth 170 million dollars.                   

She said, an assessment of the organizational structure of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council is being carried out to enhance its efficiency.
