The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has reaffirmed that desecration of the Holy Qu’ran is unacceptable under any justifications and there should be practical steps to put an end to repetition of the incidents of burning of the holy book.

This was approved by the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held virtually to discuss the repeated desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark.

The meeting decided to dispatch an OIC delegation led by the Secretary General to engage the Commission of the European Union to express the strong condemnation of the OIC Member States the crimes of desecration of Holy Quran and call on them to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such criminal acts under the pretext of freedom of expression.
