The Senate was informed today that the government is undertaking rightsizing to reduce expenditures and uplift the economy.
Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar told the House during Question Hour that proposals for rightsizing of five ministries including Energy, Federal Education and Professional Training, Information and Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture and Finance Division are being finalized in the third phase.
He said rightsizing proposals for ten ministries have been approved in the first two phases.
The Law Minister emphasized that rightsizing is need of the hour, saying it is not the government’s work to do business, but to provide a congenial environment for it.
Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada told the House that work on Bhara Kahu Green Enclave project would soon be launched. He said most of the matters pertaining to the project have been settled.
Minister for State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja told the House that the IT industry is thriving in the country. She pointed out that IT exports witnessed growth of thirty-three percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
Shaza Fatima said there has been an increase of twenty-five percent in internet users over the last one year.
She informed the House that efforts are also afoot to improve internet experience and reliability, highlighting that four new submarine cables will be connected with Pakistan with one already landed in the country to improve internet connectivity.
