Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Khalid Khurshid has said that a steel bridge would be constructed immediately in place of Hassanabad collapsed Bridge with the help of National Highway Authority to restore traffic on Karakorum Highway.  

Presiding over a high level meeting in Gilgit on Monday, he said all available resources would be utilized for the rehabilitation of Shishper Glacier affectees.

He said NHA has promised to construct a RCC Bridge in Hassanabad, Hunza within the next six months.

He said that Pakistan’s major glaciers are located in Gilgit-Baltistan due to which the Province is most at risk of global warming.

An international conference of experts will be held to prevent the effects of climate change and protect glaciers.

Home secretary Iqbal Hussain briefed the meeting about precautionary measures for safety relief activities.
