Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar has urged international community to engage with the Afghan interim authorities in capacity building and other assistance to enable them restore peace and stability in the country.

Answering a question during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday, he said Afghanistan is facing a very difficult complicated situation from the humanitarian and economic perspective.

He said there is increasing understanding to address this situation and some kind of engagement with the interim Afghan authorities is essential.

The Spokesperson said different countries at different levels are already in touch or engaged with the interim Afghan authorities.

Replying to another question, he said Pakistan is committed to fighting the scourge of trafficking in persons at the national, regional, and international levels.

Asim Iftikhar said Pakistan will continue to engage with all partners and stakeholders, both nationally and internationally, to strengthen its efforts to combat trafficking in persons and enhance the child rights agenda globally.
