Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has called upon Inter-Parliamentary Union to come forward in support of flood affected people of Pakistan.

Talking to the President of Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco in Islamabad, he said the floods have caused tragic losses, leaving millions of people homeless, destroying crops and damaging the entire infrastructure.

The Chairman hoped that the IPU President would contact the member countries, donors and other institutions for assistance to accelerate relief and rehabilitation works in flood hit areas of the country.

He said after immediate relief work, the complete rehabilitation of flood affectees would be the main challenge and huge funds would be required for this purpose.

The IPU president is on visit to Pakistan to express solidarity with Parliament, government and people of Pakistan, especially the flood affectees.
