Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the behaviour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Imran Khan is unethical, undemocratic and fascist and the government will not allow Pakistan to become hostage to politics of demagoguery.

Briefing the foreign media about prevailing political situation of the country in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said Pakistan is a democratic country and if Imran Khan feels that he has been unfairly arrested, he can prove his innocent before the court of law.

The Minister said it is not a democratic way to resort the people to violence, cause destruction in the country and its economy besides trying to bring bad image to the country internationally.

Ahsan Iqbal categorically said that Imran Khan will not face any political vendetta or political victimization.

He said Imran Khan is spreading chaos in the society, but was ousted not through any conspiracy, but for the first time in the history of the country, a Prime Minister was removed through a constitutional method of no-confidence.

The Minister for Planning and Development said National Accountability Bureau, which is an independent investigating agency, had arrested Imran Khan under a lawful legal warrant, which has also been declared to be legal by the High Court.

He said Imran Khan was arrested for a case of graft, embezzlement and corruption of 160 million pounds which is equal to 60 billion rupees in Al- Qadir Trust case.

Ahsan Iqbal said Imran Khan and PTI ransacked judicial complex and even Pakistan Television and the Parliament.

He said yesterday, Imran Khan’s followers attacked state properties, security institutions’ properties and even attacked public transport and burnt schools. He warned that those indulged in ransacking, burning and damaging the state properties will be taken to law.

The Minister said unfortunately the response given by the followers of Imran Khan has resulted into embarrassment of their own party and for him. He also deplored the scene of loot and plunder by the PTI workers.

Ahsan Iqbal said Imran Khan has chosen the path of destruction in the country only to protect himself from accountability.
