Caretaker Interior Minister lays SBP annual report in Senate

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti laid before the Senate the annual report of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the country’s economy for the year 2022-23.

The Interior Minister also tabled in the House the Annual Report for the year 2022 of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Federal Public Service Commission’s Annual Report for the year 2021.

Leader of the House in the Senate Ishaq Dar has emphasized the importance of free, fair and transparent elections to take forward the country.

Speaking in the Senate today, he said there should be a level playing field for all, stressing that credible elections are important for the country. He said we then should also have the magnanimity to accept the election results with open heart.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition Shahzad Waseem, in his remarks, welcomed the consensus reached between the President and the Election Commission of Pakistan on the election date. He said this will help remove uncertainty on the political front. He said given the challenges faced by Pakistan, it is imperative to move forward with a new mindset and the spirit of reconciliation.

The house has now been adjourned to meet again on Monday at four pm.
