Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali has appointed Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah as new caretaker Chief Minister of the province.

The Governor approved the recommendation made by former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani in Peshawar on Sunday.

Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, who belongs to Abbottabad, had served as Additional Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan and as Chief Justice in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Currently, he was serving as caretaker Provincial Minister for Law and Human Rights.

The office of Chief Minister fell vacant after the death of Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan in Peshawar on Saturday.
