Due to efforts of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the tourism sector is poised to generate revenue exceeding 30 billion dollars during next five to six years.

The ‘Green Tourism Company’ established in collaboration with SIFC has invested in dilapidated tourism to revive it them for promotion of Pakistan’s status as a tourism-friendly country.

Through mutual cooperation of all provinces under this effort, work is underway on short-term projects like setting up adequate service infrastructure and long-term projects like sustainable environment-friendly infrastructure.

In the first phase of this initiative, 20 places have been selected from across the country out of which 25 percent are in Gilgit-Baltistan, for which three billion rupees have been invested by ‘Green Tourism Company’.

Under the initiative, more than 300 people in Gilgit-Baltistan will be provided direct employment while over 4000 will get indirect employment opportunities.

It will be an eco-friendly project that promotes local culture, including local food, art and natural resources.
