Senior member of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Shah Bano, has emphasized the need for merit-based hiring and promotions in all government departments. She stressed that all government hiring decisions should be free from political influence and must adhere to a fair and transparent merit-based system.
In a recent statement, Shah Bano highlighted that government transfers and promotions should be determined by merit rather than political pressure. She pointed out that over the past seven years, many transfers within the government have been influenced by political power, with several officers being shifted to the admin pool, bypassing their rightful promotions.
Shah Bano expressed concern over the neglect of officers who were due for promotion, stating that they were instead made officials on special duty, effectively halting their career progression. She also criticized recent promotions within the FBR, noting that several deserving officers were overlooked and failed to receive their due promotions.
Moreover, she revealed that several service rules had been amended, without any legal basis, to prevent the promotion of deserving officers. Shah Bano called for immediate action to rectify these unjust practices and ensure that promotions and transfers are carried out in accordance with the established rules and merit.
