
Youm-e-Tashakur is being observed today to pay homage to Armed Forces and the people over victory in Operation Bunanu-um-Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq.
The day dawned with special prayers in Mosques and recitation of Holy Quran.
Thirty-one-gun salute after Fajar Prayar in Federal Capital and twenty-one-gun salute at provincial capitals was boomed to mark the Day.
Change of guard ceremonies will also be held at mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in Karachi and at mausoleum of national poet Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore this morning.
Special meetings will be held with the families of the martyrs of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos to pay tribute to them.
The main ceremony of Youm-e-Tashakur will be held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will be the chief guest of the ceremony, while the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Chief of Army Staff will also grace the ceremony.
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hoisted national flag at Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad in connection with “Youm-e-Tashakkur”.
The Prime Minister, on the occasion said, today “Youm-e-Tashakkur” is being observed to thank Allah Almighty for the magnificent victory of Pakistan against the blatant aggression and provocation of India.
He said India, while demonstrating cowardice, attacked Pakistan on the night of 6th and 7th of this month, resulting in the martyrdom and injuries of innocent Pakistanis. He said Indian aggression compelled Pakistan to respond.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan is a peaceful country, but it reserves right to give a befitting response in its defence.
He said the valiant and professional armed forces of Pakistan responded befittingly and effectively to India and wrote a golden chapter in the military history of the country.
In Lahore, a ceremony was held at Mazar-i-Iqbal in connection with Youm-e-Tashakur.
On the occasion, Punjab Governor, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan laid a wreath at the Mazar and offered Fateha.
Likewise, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at CM Secretariat during which Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif hoisted national flag along with cabinet members.
In Karachi, ‘Battle of Truth’ rally was arranged at Sindh Secretariat during which Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah hoisted national flag.
On the occasion, he announced compensation of ten million rupees each for the families of martyrs and one million each for those who injured in Indian attack in the province.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the flag hoisting ceremony was held at Governor House, Peshawar where Governor Faisal Karim Kundi hoisted the national flag.
A ceremony was also held at Kernal Sher Khan Shaheed mausoleum in Swabi.
Inspector General Frontier Crops North Anjum Riaz laid a floral wreath and offered fateha.
In Gilgit Baltistan, flag hoisting ceremony was held at Yaadgar-e-Shuhada in Skardu.
Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah laid floral wreaths at the memorial of martyrs and offered fateha.
Another flag hoisting ceremony was held at the historic Chinaar Bagh in Gilgit.
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan hoisted the flag nd paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
He also laid a floral wreath at the memorial of Shuhada at Chinaar Bagh in Gilgit.
