Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council to unequivocally reject and condemn the attacks against Iran since 13th of this month, which are in clear contravention of international law and the UN Charter.

The call was made by the Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed in a statement delivered at the UN Security Council meeting in New York.

Expressing solidarity with the government and brotherly people of Iran during this challenging time, the Ambassador also urged that the Security Council should denounce the attacks on IAEA-safeguarded nuclear facilities, which violate Security Council and IAEA resolutions, as well as international humanitarian law.

He said as the body entrusted with primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security, the UN Security Council must act urgently and decisively.
