A total of 2,763 mourning processions and 7,598 majalis are being held today in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in connection with 9th Muharram.
Round the clock surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras is being done in 1,129 sensitive areas.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Secretary Interior Khurram Agha are personally monitoring and coordinating all mourning processions.
In a statement, Mohsin Naqvi said maintaining law and order is topmost priority of the government.
He said our enemy’s nefarious designs could neither succeed in the past nor will succeed now. He said our law enforcement agencies are ever ready to thwart the evil intentions of Fitna-al-Hindustan.
The Minister emphatically stated that religiously provocative statements or posts on social media will not be tolerated at all.
