
Commissioner Sargodha Division, Hafiz Shoaib Ali, has directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and ensure 100 percent implementation of pre-flood planning to tackle potential urban flooding risks ahead of the monsoon season.
While chairing a high-level meeting, he emphasized the identification of low-lying areas, cleaning of drains, improvement of the drainage system, and acceleration of the desilting process. He stated that machinery and staff must remain fully prepared at all times to deal with any emergency situation.
The Commissioner also instructed the concerned departments to strengthen mutual coordination and ensure an effective presence in the field. During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners of all four districts, the Managing Director of WASA, and the Chief Engineer Irrigation briefed that pre-flood arrangements, contingency plans, and locations for flood relief camps have been finalized.
It was further informed that the first phase of sewerage desilting has been completed, while work on the second phase is ongoing. The Commissioner directed that all development projects be completed before June 30 and strictly prohibited any encroachments in the riverbed.
