A meeting of the District Coordination Committee for Development Khushab was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Coordination Committee for Development and Member Provincial Assembly Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan, along with Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar.
During the meeting, Convener of the Committee and MPA Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan gave a detailed briefing on law and order, development projects, the “Suthra Punjab Program,” clean drinking water initiatives, governance of the Punjab Government, and other key issues. Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies also expressed their views on law and order, while a DSP of Punjab Police presented a briefing on the current security situation.
MPA Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan, Malik Saad Bashir Awan (son of MNA Malik Shakir Bashir Awan and District President of Pakistan Youth Wing Khushab), Coordinator Engineer Malik Tahir Nadeem Bughur (to Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Communications Engineer Malik Gul Asghar Khan Bughur), and former MPA Malik Karam Elahi Bandial informed the meeting about ongoing development projects in their respective constituencies. They stated that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has released billions of rupees for the development and prosperity of District Khushab, terming the Punjab Development Program a historic initiative.
The chair directed all relevant departments to ensure timely completion of projects under the Punjab Development Program and other schemes initiated by the Chief Minister. He emphasized that no compromise would be made on the quality of materials used in development works and that negligence or inefficiency would not be tolerated. He further stressed that welfare projects must be completed on time so that the public can benefit from them.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar stated that, under clear directives from the Chief Minister, all departments must further improve their performance and provide maximum relief to the public.
Later, Assistant Director Punjab Development Program Qasim Lali briefed MNAs and MPAs about ongoing projects in Khushab and Joharabad, including sewerage lines, five disposal units in Joharabad, four disposal units in Khushab, and work on the Shawala Drain.
Participants requested that under the Punjab Development Program, adjoining rural areas and villages of Khushab and Joharabad should also be provided with drainage systems, water supply lines, roads, and other basic facilities.
During the briefing, the District Officer of the Clean Water Authority Khushab informed that 211 water filtration plants will be installed at various locations across the district. The project will be executed under the F.W.K. system, and installation is expected to begin in June 2026.
