President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was not only a great poet but also an intellectual, moral and spiritual force who guided the Muslim Ummah towards self-awareness, freedom of thought, self-respect and determined effort.
In their separate messages on the occasion of 88th death anniversary of Allama Iqbal being observed today, both leaders paid tribute to the Poet of the East, whose poetry inspired a once-subjugated nation toward confidence and perseverance.
The President said Allama Iqbal’s poetry presents a forward-looking vision of society rooted in justice, dignity and human potential.
The Prime Minister said Iqbal’s ideas remain relevant to this day in addressing contemporary challenges including extremism, intolerance, and social discord.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed government’s commitment to empowering young people with knowledge, skills, and patriotism.
