Secretary Public Prosecution Punjab Lahore, Salman Ghani, paid a special visit to the DC Complex Khushab. Upon his arrival, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Khushab and District Public Prosecutor Khushab, Pervaiz Iqbal, warmly welcomed him and presented a bouquet of flowers.
During a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Salman Ghani stated that, under the special directives of the Government of Punjab, the purpose of these visits across the province is to review the performance of the Punjab Legal Aid Agency within the Prosecution Department and to ensure free legal assistance through government lawyers for poor, deserving, and disabled individuals involved in legal cases.
He said that in the current period of inflation, providing free legal services to underprivileged and disabled citizens is the foremost responsibility of the Government of Punjab and the Prosecution Department.
The Secretary further informed that a separate building for the District Public Prosecution Department in Khushab is under construction. He added that the department is also being equipped with all necessary facilities and privileges, and the project is in its final stages.
Salman Ghani appreciated the wholehearted cooperation of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office with the Prosecution Department in District Khushab and expressed his gratitude.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Khushab Ghazala Kanwal, ADC Revenue Abdullah Khan, Deputy District Public Prosecutor Zulqarnain Awan, and Assistant District Public Prosecutor Abdul Rauf Chheena were also present.
Later, the Secretary Public Prosecution Punjab visited the Prosecution Office, where he reviewed office records, departmental performance, the nature of pending cases, and other related matters. During the briefing, District Public Prosecutor Khushab Pervaiz Iqbal informed him about various serious cases, including attempted murder, robbery, highway robbery, narcotics, theft, and other criminal matters.
Addressing the officers, Salman Ghani directed them to ensure proper preparation and effective representation in courts for all cases. He emphasized that maximum legal relief should be provided to poor, disabled, and deserving accused persons. He further stated that all officers must perform their duties with honesty and a strong sense of national responsibility, adding that negligence or carelessness would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Later, Salman Ghani also visited different sections of the Khushab DC Complex building. ADC Revenue Abdullah Khan accompanied him during the visit.
