The 27th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.
He was born in district Sawabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1970.
During the Kargil conflict of 1999, Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed displayed extraordinary gallantry and resolute leadership while defending the motherland against overwhelming odds. Leading from the front with exceptional determination, he embraced martyrdom in the finest traditions of the Pakistan Army, leaving behind a legacy of honour, valour and selfless service.
He was martyred on this day in 1999 and was decorated with country’s highest gallantry award, Nishan-e-Haider.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) for his unprecedented bravery, valour and sacrifice in the face of enemy.
In a statement, the president said sacrifice of Karnal Shaheed Sher Khan is a glowing chapter in the national history which would always be remembered.
In a post on X handle, paying tribute to sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan, the Prime Minister said enduring legacy of loyalty, duty and ultimate sacrifice continues to live in the hearts of the people of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Armed Forces of Pakistan and Services Chiefs have also paid profound tribute to unmatched courage, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed in the service of the nation.
The ISPR, in a statement, said Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed’s immortal sacrifice continues to inspire generations of Pakistanis and remains a timeless beacon of courage, patriotism, and steadfast commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.
It said the people and Armed Forces of Pakistan reaffirm their enduring resolve to uphold the ideals for which Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed laid down his life, ensuring that his legacy will forever endure in the nation’s history.
