Pakistan’s top male and female weightlifters will compete in the National Weightlifting Championships, scheduled to take place from July 10 to 15 at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) National Training and Coaching Centre in Lahore. The event will bring together elite and emerging athletes representing affiliated departments, provinces and regional associations from across the country.

Organized by the Interim Committee of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWLF), the championship aims to provide athletes with a level playing field to showcase their talent and compete for medals and championship trophies for their respective departments, associations and clubs.

The competition will feature eight men’s weight categories (60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 94kg, 110kg and +110kg) and eight women’s categories (48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg and +86kg).

The opening day will include team arrivals, an anti-doping seminar led by Pakistan Anti-Doping Board CEO Dr. Sohail Saleem, followed by a managers’ meeting. Competitive events will begin on July 11, with medal ceremonies held after each day’s contests, while the championship will conclude on July 15 with the departure of participating teams.

The Pakistan Weightlifting Federation has invited sports journalists and media organizations to cover the six-day national event, expressing hope that extensive coverage will help promote weightlifting and clean sport in Pakistan.
