Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber, chaired a review meeting on District Public Prosecution cases at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting was attended by District Public Prosecutor Khushab, Pervaiz Iqbal, prosecution officers from all four tehsils, DSP Sadar Zulfiqar Ahmed, Deputy Director Housing Shakeel Ahmed Niazi, and other officials of the Prosecution Department.
During the briefing, District Public Prosecutor Pervaiz Iqbal informed the Deputy Commissioner that, in accordance with the special directives of the Government of Punjab, the performance of the Punjab Legal Aid Agency is being regularly reviewed. He stated that free legal assistance through government-appointed lawyers is being provided to poor, underprivileged, and differently abled individuals. He added that, in the current period of rising inflation, providing free legal services to deserving citizens remains a top priority of both the Government of Punjab and the Prosecution Department.
Pervaiz Iqbal further informed the meeting that a separate building has been established for the District Public Prosecution Office in Khushab. He said that the department is also being equipped with all necessary facilities and resources to improve the delivery of legal services.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber reviewed the record of criminal cases, the department’s overall performance, the nature of pending cases, and other related matters. He directed the prosecution officers to ensure thorough preparation for every case, present effective arguments before the courts, defend cases professionally, and make every possible effort to provide maximum legal relief to poor, differently abled, and deserving individuals in accordance with the law.
