Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has directed that the rightsizing process of federal government departments be accelerated, with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs and enhancing service delivery.
He said this while chairing a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Rightsizing of the Federal Government in Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting reviewed progress on all eight waves of the exercise.
The Finance Minister stressed that recurring savings from approved measures must be clearly quantified and reflected in the budget and medium-term fiscal framework.
He said rightsizing should be assessed not only through reductions in government size but also through improvements in productivity, resource utilization and public service delivery.
The Finance Minister directed close monitoring of the process to ensure timely implementation and sustainable improvements in government efficiency and fiscal management.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Convener of the Sub-Committee, Senator Dr. Musadik Malik, called for a focused, time-bound action plan with clear responsibilities to ensure implementation of approved recommendations.
