Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadar in Islamabad today.
He felicitated the President on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Prime Minister also briefed the President on the historic peace agreement reached among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan in Makkah.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his best wishes for the effective implementation of the trilateral peace agreement aimed at promoting defence cooperation, regional peace and stability, and the security of the Muslim Ummah.
He appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as well as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to transform the longstanding fraternal ties among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan into a stronger strategic partnership.
The meeting also discussed internal and external affairs, including Pakistan’s ongoing operations against terrorists of Fitna-al-Hindustan and Fitna-al-Khawarij.
They paid tribute to the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and law-enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the resolve to completely eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.
The President stressed the need for effective measures to provide relief to people facing economic difficulties amid the prevailing regional situation and to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices.
He expressed the hope that Pakistan’s effective diplomatic efforts to promote regional and global peace would further strengthen the country’s standing in the international community and have positive effects on the national economy and the lives of the people.
