Teachers and students of Government Anbala Muslim Graduate College Sargodha participated in the popular Radio Pakistan Sargodha programme “Shaheen Sargodha.” During the programme, the students spoke about their academic fields, interests and future aspirations. They were also given a detailed briefing on the working of various departments of Radio Pakistan, including programming, news, engineering and broadcasting.

Assistant Professor Aamir Afzal, Department of English, Government Anbala Muslim Graduate College Sargodha, was a special guest on the programme. While introducing the institution, he said that the college was established in 1964 through the efforts of Anjuman Islamia Anbala Hall Sargodha and was nationalised in 1972. In 1987, the college was shifted to its present campus on Kot Fareed Road, Iqbal Colony.

He said that the institution is now counted among the prominent educational institutions of Sargodha Division because of its excellent academic and co-curricular activities. Despite limited resources, the college’s dedicated teaching staff is playing an active role in character building, grooming students’ abilities and preparing them to become dignified, principled, progressive and patriotic citizens.

Assistant Professor Aamir Afzal said that the college offers various Intermediate-level programmes, including Arts, ICS/General Science, Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering. It also offers ADP/ADS, Fifth Semester in Technology, ADS Botany and four-year BS programmes in subjects including English, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Urdu, History, Islamic Studies, Education, Economics, Political Science and Information Technology.

He said the college, spread over approximately 40 acres, provides students with a conducive learning environment, including sports grounds, science laboratories and other educational facilities. Literary, cultural, sports and other co-curricular activities are also organised to promote character building and bring out the hidden talents of students. The Career and Guidance Council, tutorial system, seminars, workshops and motivational lectures further help guide students.

He added that the college also organises educational study tours for students to provide them with practical exposure and broaden their vision and powers of observation.

The students who participated in the programme included Maryam Riaz, Rida Fatima, Alishba Faryad, Sobia Rashid, Muhammad Imran, Ali Asad, Muhammad Zeeshan Ali, Subhan Sheikh and Aqeel Abbas.

The students spoke about their respective academic fields, educational experiences, interests and future plans. They described their visit to Radio Pakistan Sargodha as a unique and informative experience, saying that it not only enabled them to observe a professional radio environment closely but also increased their confidence in expressing their views before others.

The students were given a comprehensive briefing about various departments of Radio Pakistan Sargodha. They were informed about the functions and coordination of the programming, news, engineering, accounts and administration departments. They were also briefed on programme planning, preparation, production, broadcasting, the responsibilities of the duty officer and the overall working mechanism of the Radio Pakistan team.

The students termed the visit a valuable experience in their academic lives. They said that observing different departments of Radio Pakistan closely and interacting directly with professionals helped them better understand the fields of media and broadcasting. They appreciated Radio Pakistan Sargodha’s initiative to build confidence among young people and provide them with practical knowledge.

The students expressed the hope that such programmes would continue in the future so that young people could gain practical knowledge of different fields alongside their classroom education. They also urged the management of Radio Pakistan Sargodha to expand such informative and training-oriented programmes.

On the occasion, Radio Pakistan Sargodha’s special initiative for informative and educational visits for public and private educational institutions was also highlighted. Under the initiative, students from various colleges and schools will be provided opportunities to visit Radio Pakistan Sargodha and gain practical knowledge about its different departments and working procedures.

Through this initiative, Radio Pakistan Sargodha is playing a key role in familiarising the younger generation with broadcasting, programming, news, engineering, administration, communication and related fields. Participants will also be awarded certificates after completing the study visit.

Government and private colleges, schools and other educational institutions can benefit from the initiative. The participants thanked Radio Pakistan Sargodha for the initiative, saying that such programmes play an important role in enhancing young people’s confidence, broadening their knowledge and preparing them more effectively for their future.
