Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan’s economic stability and international standing have improved significantly.
He was addressing the Pakistani community in London today.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the government is now moving from stability towards sustainable growth.
He said Pakistan had moved from the brink of default to macroeconomic stability.
Ishaq Dar said inflation has declined from around thirty percent to single digits, while the policy rate has fallen substantially from its peak of twenty-two percent.
Talking about the country’s success on the diplomatic front, he said Pakistan was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council with one hundred and eighty-two votes, reflecting its growing international support.
The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan remained actively engaged in diplomatic efforts concerning Gaza and other international crises.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that through its sustained diplomatic efforts and recent military successes, Pakistan is now being viewed as a positive security provider and has gained greater recognition for its role in promoting peace and stability in the world.
Talking about the overseas Pakistanis, the Deputy Prime Minister termed them a major national asset and appreciated their contribution to the country’s economy through remittances.
He said the remittances had crossed forty billion dollars annually, strengthening Pakistan’s foreign exchange position and helping to bridge the external financing gap.
He encouraged overseas Pakistanis to invest and save in Pakistan through formal channels, including Roshan Digital Accounts.
Talking about the signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, the Deputy Prime Minister described it as defensive in nature and aimed at strengthening regional stability.
He stressed that the agreement was not against any country and was intended to combine the three countries’ capabilities for mutual defence and regional security.
He said other countries could potentially join the framework in the future, subject to agreement with its principles.
The Foreign Minister said Pakistan’s improved economic stability, expanding diplomatic engagement, and growing international partnerships demonstrated a significant change in the country’s global perception.
He called for continued national unity, stability, and constructive engagement to take Pakistan to the next level.
