Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a ‘Back to School’ programme was organised to bring children back into educational activities and increase school enrolment.
The event was organised through a collaborative effort of UNICEF, the School Education Department, and GPC Transforming Education. Assistant Commissioner Sargodha Ahmed Sher Gondal and Chief Executive Officer Education Azhar Sohail Niazi attended the ceremony as chief guests.
On the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Sher Gondal and CEO Education Azhar Sohail Niazi completed the registration process of children in the nursery class and distributed books and school bags among the students. They interacted with the children, took an interest in their educational activities and encouraged them to study with dedication.
Addressing the ceremony, CEO Education Azhar Sohail Niazi said that education is the fundamental right of every child, adding that the Punjab government is taking practical measures to provide quality education to children and ensure a conducive learning environment in schools.
He said the objective of the ‘Back to School’ programme is to encourage children to return to educational activities, increase school enrolment and bring out-of-school children into the mainstream of education.
He added that the provision of books and school bags would support children in their educational journey, while timely registration at the nursery level would help lay a strong foundation for their future education.
Mr. Niazi urged parents to send their children to school regularly and play their full role in ensuring the continuation of their education.
DEO Secondary Rana Sajjad, DEO Elementary Female Rabia Aslam, Deputy DEO Female Middle Samreen Ali, education department officials, school administration, teachers, parents and students were also present.
Participants termed the ‘Back to School’ programme an important and positive initiative for securing a brighter educational future for children.
