England defeated Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord’s on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a daunting target of 389, Pakistan were bowled out for 194 despite a fighting 97 from Saud Shakeel. The left-hander’s determined innings included 13 fours and two sixes, but ultimately proved insufficient as England’s pace attack completed a comprehensive victory.
Pakistan suffered an early setback in their chase, slipping to 14 for three after Ollie Robinson dismissed Azan Awais and Abdullah Shafique, while Jofra Archer removed captain Babar Azam.
Saud Shakeel then steadied the innings and built a 97-run partnership with Shan Masood. However, Robinson broke the stand by dismissing Masood for 26 before removing Mohammad Rizwan for one to further damage Pakistan’s hopes.
Robinson finished with four wickets in Pakistan’s second innings, while Josh Tongue claimed three and Archer two. Tongue eventually dismissed Shakeel for 97 before removing Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali to seal England’s victory.
Earlier, England resumed their second innings at 177 for seven and were bowled out for 208, setting Pakistan a target of 389. Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas claimed five wickets for England’s second innings, his eighth career five-wicket haul.
The victory gives England their first Test series win since December 2024. The third and final Test will begin at Edgbaston in Birmingham on September 9.
