Talented students of the Architecture Department of Government College of Technology (GCT), Sargodha, have brought great pride to their institution and parents by securing outstanding positions across Punjab. Areeba Tariq Awan secured second position, while Amna Waheed obtained third position across the province. A ceremony was organized in the Principal’s Office to honour the high-achieving students.
Principal Government College of Technology Aamira Akram, Head of the Architecture Department Samin Irfan, Sidra Iqbal, Ayesha Farooq, Sobia Rao, Aneela Sumbal, Khansa Huma and other faculty members attended the ceremony. On the occasion, Principal Aamira Akram and Head of Department Samin Irfan congratulated the students and presented them with bouquets. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Aamira Akram said that Areeba Tariq Awan and Amna Waheed’s second and third positions across Punjab were a matter of great pride for the institution. She said the students had demonstrated through their hard work, talent and dedication that, when provided with quality education, proper guidance and a conducive academic environment, students could excel at the provincial level.
She added that the institution was utilizing all available resources to provide students with education aligned with modern requirements as well as practical training. She also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the teaching staff.
Head of the Architecture Department Samin Irfan said that the Architecture Department had been demonstrating excellent academic performance continuously since 2016, with its students securing prominent positions across Punjab every year and bringing honour to the institution.
She said the achievement was not merely the result of the students’ individual efforts but a collective outcome of their parents’ prayers, the tireless efforts of their teachers and the educational and practical facilities provided by the institution.
Samin Irfan further said that students in the Architecture Department were trained in various practical skills, including design, architectural drawing, AutoCAD, building construction, surveying, model making and quantity estimation, enabling them to become successful and responsible architectural professionals in the future.
She said the department’s greatest strength was its hardworking, dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff, which remained committed to polishing students’ abilities and preparing them for their professional careers.
