Information Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party Human Rights Cell, Tariq Mahmood Ghouri, has strongly condemned the suicide attack on the Aman Mela Check Post in Dera Ismail Khan.
In his statement, Tariq Mahmood Ghouri said he was deeply grieved over the loss of 12 precious lives in a suicide attack carried out with an explosive-laden vehicle on the joint anti-smuggling check post in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan. The martyrs include 6 police personnel, 2 customs officials, 2 women and a 2-year-old innocent child, while more than 35 people were injured.
He paid rich tribute to the martyred police and customs officials and prayed for the early recovery of the injured and elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
He said the continued wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is alarming. On 19 September, 22 people were martyred and over 100 injured in a suicide attack during Friday prayers at the Kohat Police Lines Mosque. On 24–25 September, security forces were targeted in North Waziristan and Bannu. On 26 September, the Aman Mela Check Post in Dera Ismail Khan was attacked.
He said terrorism has no religion, and targeting innocent people is a heinous act that the entire nation rejects.
Criticizing the provincial government, he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should abandon the politics of jalsas, dharnas and marching towards Islamabad and instead focus on ensuring the protection and security of its people. With every passing day, the menace of terrorism is spreading in KP, but the provincial government appears least concerned. He said that such negligence amounts to facilitating the terrorists.
The eradication of terrorism is a national priority. The fight against terrorism must continue with full resolve until peace and security are restored across the country.
