The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has said mischievous social media handles are circulating misleading claims of fabricated unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, using AI-generated visuals, old footage and unrelated videos.
In a post on X, the ministry’s Fact Checker said the circulated material includes factory fires, protests over load-shedding and footage from Syria, all mis-captioned to manufacture an impression of chaos.
It further said that Afghan and Indian accounts are also amplifying this narrative in coordination with vested political accounts, which further confirms coordinated foreign-driven propaganda.
