A prominent Arab daily ‘Khaleej Times’ has termed the initiatives taken by the government of Pakistan for addressing the issues of overseas Pakistanis and creating job opportunities as crucial for improving the economy.
In an article, the daily said the government of Pakistan introduced comprehensive reforms to address the issues of Pakistani expatriates, boost skills and create employment opportunities.
It said creating employment opportunities abroad is also key to skill development and the country’s economic progress.
Pakistan aims to create eight hundred thousand jobs in the United Arab Emirates and other countries this year, showing an increase of sixty thousand as compared to the last year.
According to Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Pakistan’s manpower export was seven hundred forty thousand in 2025 and there is a target to increase this manpower export to eight hundred thousand during the current calendar year.
The daily ‘Khaleej Times’ further writes that more than nine million Pakistanis are currently living in Gulf Cooperation Council member countries. Overseas Pakistanis, who play a key role in improving the economy, have sent nearly forty billion dollars remittances to Pakistan last year.
The daily said that Italy also provided ten thousand five hundred jobs to Pakistan in the health and agriculture sectors last month.
