Three police personnel including Deputy Superintendent of Police Tehsil Lachi Asad Mehmood were martyred while four others injured when terrorists opened fire on a police van in Shakardara area of district Kohat today.
According to the DPO Kohat, the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Kohat.
Police has also launched a search operation the area to arrest the terrorists.
President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the attack on police vehicle by Fitna-ul-Kharij terrorists in Kohat.
In a statement today, he paid tribute to DSP Asad Mahmood and other officials who were martyred in the attack.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred officials.
The President said the scourge of foreign backed terrorism is being eradicated from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also strongly condemned the terrorist attack.
In a statement today, he paid rich tribute to Shaheed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asad Mahmood and other personnel who embraced martyrdom in the attack.
He said the martyred officers rendered a great sacrifice for the motherland.
The Prime Minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the family members of Shaheed DSP Asad Mahmood and other martyrs and commiserated with the bereaved families.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi have strongly condemned the attack on Police in Kohat.
In their separate statements, they paid rich tribute to police personnel who embraced martyrdom in the attack.
