Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed confidence that the introduction of 5G spectrum technology will be a milestone for the country’s agriculture and industry.
He was addressing a ceremony in connection with the award of 5G spectrum licenses in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the transparent auction process for the 5G spectrum and commended the relevant ministries for their efforts in this regard.
He expressed hope that telecom companies would extend 5G coverage to every corner of the country including villages, towns and cities so that the youth of Pakistan could fully leverage modern technology.
Referring to Zong’s participation in the auction process, the Prime Minister highlighted the strong and unique friendship between Pakistan and China, emphasizing that this relationship continues to grow and manifests itself in various fields, including technology.
In her remarks, Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said that 480 MHz of spectrum was sold during the auction. She emphasized that this addition positions Pakistan as number one in terms of spectrum availability in the region.
The Chairman PTA said five hundred and nine million dollars were generated from the 5G spectrum auction.
