
A high-level delegation of the Capital Journalists Association (Registered), led by its President Malik Waqar Haider Chohan, visited the National Press Club Islamabad and congratulated the newly elected President Abdul Razaq Sial, General Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao, and other cabinet members on their remarkable success.
The delegation included Zahir Satti, Malik Imran Khan Awan, Khazina Hameed, Shah Najaf, Naeemullah Baig, Umar Khan, Ijaz Shah, Feroz Joiya, Malik Hassan, and Shagufta Mughal, along with other office-bearers and members.
On this occasion, the delegation held a detailed meeting with the newly elected office-bearers, during which issues faced by the journalist community, professional challenges, and institutional matters were discussed. The delegation appreciated the democratic process of the National Press Club, stating that the journalist community has always demonstrated unity, discipline, and professional responsibility, which is commendable.
President Malik Waqar Haider Chohan, in his statement, said that the National Press Club is a central and prestigious institution for journalists across the country, which has effectively raised the voice of journalists in every era. He added that in the current circumstances, journalists are facing multiple challenges, including economic, professional, and security issues, which require a joint strategy and a strong platform for resolution.
He further stated that the Capital Journalists Association will continue to play its role at every level for the protection of journalists’ rights and will maintain full cooperation with the new leadership of the National Press Club to ensure that journalists’ issues are resolved on a priority basis.
Other members of the delegation also expressed their views, stating that the need of the time is for all journalistic organizations to promote mutual cooperation and jointly strive for the protection of journalists’ rights, freedom of the press, and improvement in professional standards.
The newly elected office-bearers thanked the delegation and reaffirmed their commitment to taking practical steps for the welfare of the journalist community and the resolution of their issues.
The meeting concluded in a pleasant atmosphere, with a renewed commitment to further strengthen mutual cooperation.
