Deputy Commissioner Khushab Chairs District Wheat Agriculture Committee Meeting, Reviews Key Agricultural Initiatives

A significant meeting of the District Wheat Agriculture Committee was held in the conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar. The meeting reviewed in detail the wheat cultivation, production, and set targets for the year 2026, along with departmental performance in the district.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on enhancing professional capacity in the agriculture sector and various subsidy programs introduced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for farmers. It was highlighted that, for the first time in the history of Punjab, Kisan Cards have been issued to 800,000 farmers. Additionally, initiatives such as the tractor scheme, easy loan scheme, rewards for farmers cultivating higher wheat yields, off-season tomato cultivation, and other revolutionary measures are being implemented.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Majeed Khan (Jauharabad and District Khushab), Deputy Director Agriculture Water Management, Deputy Director Crop Reporting, Deputy Director Plant Protection, Director Soil Conservation, and other relevant officers.

Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Majeed Khan gave a detailed briefing to the Deputy Commissioner on ongoing agricultural projects, subsidy schemes, Kisan Card distribution, tractor scheme, and cultivation initiatives related to wheat, cotton, paddy (rice), and off-season tomatoes in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar directed the concerned officers to take effective measures to further improve the agriculture sector and to present a progress report in the next meeting. He emphasized that immediate practical steps should be taken to achieve the wheat production targets for 2026 and that clear duties and responsibilities should be assigned to field officers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to submit detailed written reports on their performance and initiatives in the next session.
