Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to a statement shared on social media platform X, the meeting focused on the current regional situation and ongoing efforts for peace and stability.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting, along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and the Foreign Secretary.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed diplomatic developments amid intensified efforts by Pakistan to facilitate a second round of talks between the United States and Iran.
The development comes as Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic engagement aimed at de-escalation in the region.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump had stated on social media that, on the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, strikes on Iran were being halted to allow diplomatic efforts to continue.
