
Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber, chaired a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority to review preparedness and arrangements for dealing with potential floods, hill torrents, and emergency situations.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Khushab Chaudhry Ziaullah, DSP Sadar Zulfiqar Ahmed, Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Majeed Khan, CEO Education Muhammad Isa Lali, Executive Engineer Irrigation Khushab Ali Raza, CEO Municipal Committee Sundas Rabeel, Rescue 1122 In-charge Ali Hussain, SDO Irrigation, Sub-Engineer Highways Gul Hassan, and other relevant departmental officers.
Executive Engineer Irrigation Ali Raza and Rescue 1122 In-charge Ali Hussain briefed the Deputy Commissioner on preparedness measures. They informed that all necessary arrangements have been completed to cope with heavy rains and possible flooding in rivers, canals, and streams. All equipment has been made fully functional, response teams have been formed, and emergency drills are actively underway.
The Executive Engineer Irrigation further stated that desilting of drains, cleaning of water channels, and maintenance of bridges are being carried out at an accelerated pace in both urban and rural areas, including Dhak, Rajar, Sandral, Kadhai, and Hassanpur Tiwana, to minimize risks and ensure smooth water flow.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber directed all departments to strengthen coordination and maintain constant communication. He emphasized that all machinery must remain operational and field teams should stay on high alert to ensure an immediate response in case of any emergency.
He assured that the district administration will provide full support and that the control room will remain operational 24 hours a day. At the conclusion of the meeting, he instructed all concerned officers to submit a detailed written report on emergency plans and preparedness in the next meeting.
