The Senate unanimously passed a resolution paying tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan, security institutions and the entire nation for their unparalleled sacrifices, courage and determination in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, security and national dignity.

The resolution was presented by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, in connection with the first anniversary of the Marka-e-Haq.

The resolution said “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” and Marka-e-Haq reflected the professional excellence, strategic acumen and unwavering resolve of the Armed Forces of Pakistan in foiling the enemy’s malicious designs.

It said the successful response effectively neutralized India’s “Operation Sindoor” and conveyed a clear message that Pakistan possesses complete capability to defend its sovereignty, security and national interests.

The House appreciated the prudent leadership of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for promoting national unity and effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance at the international level.

The resolution also paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his visionary leadership, military strategy and outstanding services for national defence. It said his leadership has further strengthened the morale, professional capability and defensive preparedness of the Armed Forces.

The Senate paid homage to all martyrs and Ghazis of the Armed Forces,  who sacrificed their lives in defence of the motherland. It also paid tribute to innocent civilian martyrs, who lost their lives in incidents of enemy aggression and terrorism, while expressing complete solidarity with their families.

The House reaffirmed that the entire Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its Armed Forces and that no compromise will be made on the defence, integrity and stability of Pakistan.

The resolution also appreciated the role of all political parties and the media. Furthermore, the House urged the international community to play its role in ensuring peace, stability and respect for international laws in the region, and to discourage actions that escalate tensions in South Asia.

The Upper House also offered Fateha for the departed soul of prominent religious scholar Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees. Maulana Atta ur Rehman led the Fateha. It unanimously passed a condemnation resolution against the assassination of Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees. The resolution called for the arrest of those involved in the assassination and bringing them to justice.   

The Senate adopted a resolution extending the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, for a further period of one hundred and twenty days with effect from 9th May, 2026.

The resolution was moved by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.

Responding to calling attention, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said the Islamabad anti-encroachment operation is continuing without any discrimination.

He said this land had been lawfully acquired in the past and the owners were compensated as per law. He said around 3800 structures have been evacuated and most of them were empty.
