A meeting regarding the launch of electric green buses was held in the conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber. In line with the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a detailed review was conducted on the measures being taken for the introduction of electric bus service in the district.
The meeting discussed bus routes, bus stops, charging points, and other operational preparations. Assistant Commissioner Khushab Chaudhry Ziaullah, Deputy Director Development Sohail Sikandar Ranjha, Secretary RTA Malik Muhammad Tahir, officials of MC Joharabad, and representatives of other departments were also present.
Secretary RTA Malik Muhammad Tahir, during the briefing, stated that in the first phase, 10 electric buses will operate on two routes within Khushab city. The bus service will be available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Free, comfortable, and environmentally friendly travel facilities will be provided to all passengers.
He further informed that an electric charging system is being installed at Joharabad General Bus Stand, from where the buses will operate. A modern 4000 kV power system is also being set up to ensure the service remains efficient and sustainable in the future.
It was also shared during the briefing that construction work on 60 green bus stops across the city is progressing rapidly. This project will provide modern, high-quality, and eco-friendly transportation facilities to the people of Khushab.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Joharabad General Bus Stand and inspected the main stop for the green electric buses and the transformer point being installed for charging purposes. Assistant Commissioner Chaudhry Ziaullah, Secretary RTA Malik Muhammad Tahir, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
