Member of the Provincial Assembly Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan Baloch held a special meeting with Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr. Jahanzeb Hassan Laber to discuss the alarming erosion along the banks of the Jhelum River and its impact on surrounding areas.
Former District Council Chairman Malik Zafar Iqbal Sago, prominent social figure Ali Raza Khan, Malik Moula Bakhsh Awan, and Sardar Sajid Khan were also present during the meeting.
During the discussion, MPA Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan Baloch highlighted the serious threats posed by the riverbank erosion to local communities, agricultural land, and public infrastructure. He stressed the urgent need for immediate and effective protective measures to prevent further damage.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hassan Laber assured the participants that the district administration is in close coordination with the relevant departments to address the issue. He reaffirmed that every possible step will be taken to safeguard the lives and property of the residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan Baloch stated that the protection of people’s lives and property, as well as the development of the region, remains the top priority. He pledged to raise the issue of the Jhelum River’s erosion at every appropriate forum to ensure a permanent and sustainable solution.
