Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that all remaining work on the Chief Minister’s e-Bikes Scheme be completed at the earliest.
In a statement, she said the scheme would facilitate students, particularly female students, in commuting and reduce their monthly expenses.
More than 600,000 applications have been received under the scheme, out of which 100,000 students will be selected through balloting.
The e-bikes will be provided on easy monthly installments of 3,000 rupees, while the Punjab government will bear the interest cost.
The Chief Minister also directed that successful female applicants be provided free driving training.
