Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has commended farmers for achieving an impressive wheat yield of seventy maunds per acre, describing it as a remarkable achievement for the country’s agricultural sector.
He was addressing the “Sarsabz Ki Jeet” event, organized by Fatima Fertilizer in Lahore to recognize and celebrate the achievements of high-performing wheat farmers.
The Minister said increased per-acre productivity would not only strengthen national food security but also create opportunities for wheat exports and valuable foreign exchange earnings.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said government priorities include increasing per-acre productivity, reducing production costs, improving farmers’ incomes and strengthening national food security. In this regard, the government has introduced a comprehensive National Wheat Policy, which includes a proposed wheat support price of 4,500 rupees per maund and a strategy to maintain strategic reserves of up to six million metric tonnes to safeguard national requirements.
