Japan has released treated water from its Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean.
In a statement, the UN’s atomic regulator said the discharge meets safety standards and will have a negligible impact on humans and the environment. However, neighbours including China, South Korea and the Pacific islands have criticized the decision imposing bans on Japan’s seafood.
