Canada has expelled six Indian diplomats including the high commissioner, linking them to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.

This was announced by Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while addressing a news conference in Ottawa.

He said Canadian government has clear and compelling evidence that agents of the government of India have engaged in and continue to engage in activities that pose a significant threat to public safety.

It is pertinent to mention that four Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with Nijjar’s murder, which took place in the parking lot of a Sikh temple in Vancouver in June 2023.
