Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has chaired a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Chinese Investment Projects in Islamabad to review the progress of various projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The meeting focused on addressing issues faced by Chinese investors.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said resolving problems faced by Chinese investors is a top priority of the government.

He said the government is committed to ensure a safe and conducive environment for Chinese investment, which is crucial for bilateral cooperation in new sectors under CPEC Phase II.

The Minister said CPEC has potential to play a significant role in increasing regional cooperation, with the Gwadar Port poised to become a hub of regional trade.

He highlighted the importance of protecting the interests of local fishermen in Gwadar, saying that the pace of water and power projects in the area should be accelerated.
