Pakistan’s Hasnain Akhtar has etched his name in the history books by winning the IBSF World Under-17 Snooker Championship, becoming the first Pakistani player to claim this title.

In a dominant performance, Hasnain outclassed Wales’ Riley Powell in the final, securing a 4-0 victory without dropping a single frame. The frame scores were 86-7, 73-35, 50-32, and 98-4, highlighting Hasnain’s remarkable control and precision throughout the match.

The championship was formerly known as the IBSF World Under-18 Championship. In 2023, the International Billiards and Snooker Federation rebranded the event as the World U-17 Championship to align with new age categories.

Previously, Pakistan’s Naseem Akhtar had won the IBSF World U-18 Championship in 2017, but Hasnain Akhtar’s victory in this revised format marks a new milestone for Pakistani snooker on the global stage.

This triumph not only showcases Hasnain’s exceptional talent but also reflects the growing strength of Pakistan’s youth in cue sports.
