Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed the government’s resolve to complete eradication of polio from the country.     

He was talking to a delegation of Rotary International Foundation led by its President Francesco Arezzo, which called on him in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister extended gratitude to the Rotary International for its full cooperation, like other international organizations, in eradicating this fatal disease from Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif said there are challenges in eradication of polio from the country, but the government will secure the future of Pakistan’s children through dedication and hard work.

He said no doubt there are difficulties in eradicating polio, but it is not impossible. He also commended the key role of polio workers in anti-polio campaigns.

The Rotary International delegation lauded the government’s anti-polio measures. It expressed the hope that with the special attention and leadership of the Prime Minister, the deadly disease will be eradicated from Pakistan soon.

The delegation reiterated the resolve of the Rotary International to continue supporting the government in its fight against polio.

The delegation informed the Prime Minister that the Rotary International spent five hundred million dollars last year on polio eradication in Pakistan and is looking forward to spend a substantial amount this year for this purpose.

The Rotary International delegation also appreciated Prime Minister’s selection of the polio eradication team and the steps taken by the team.
