Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has expressed full confidence in the national team’s preparations for the upcoming Tri Nations T20 series and Asia Cup, saying the squad is well-prepared and ready to take on big challenges.
Speaking to the media at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, Afridi said the team had its first practice session on the previous night, followed by a full training session at the stadium. “Our training is helping us gear up for the big matches,” he said. “This time, the team has prepared earlier and more systematically than usual, which is a very positive sign.”
Acknowledging that no team can prepare perfectly in cricket, Afridi said Pakistan had managed to train exceptionally well. “Our first goal is to win matches. With proper preparation, we can perform better step by step. If the preparation is good, the outcome is usually good as well.”
Commenting on reports of internal differences within the team, the left-arm pacer downplayed the rumors, saying, “There is unity in the team. Minor issues happen in every family, but they should remain within the family. Our job is to play cricket for Pakistan, and we are focused on that.”
He emphasized that external matters are beyond the team’s control, and everyone’s opinion should be respected. Praising fellow teammates, he said, “Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are world-class players who have consistently performed well for Pakistan.”
Afridi also had a message for younger players: “Whenever an opportunity comes your way, grab it with both hands. Support your senior players — we are all working together to lead Pakistan to victory.”
