Pakistan has called for dialogue and diplomacy to halt escalating violence in Ukraine.
Delivering a national statement at the UN Security Council emergency meeting on Ukraine, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad welcomed initiatives led by the United States to advance dialogue, noting the leadership-level contacts between the US, Russia, and Ukraine as signs of hope in an otherwise bleak conflict.
He said these efforts must not stop and should in fact be continued earnestly and followed up with more diplomacy, deeper engagement and structured and sustained talks.
