Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani has said the government’s target is to take the economy towards sustainable growth.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said the government is encouraging the private sector for export-led growth. He said consultations are also continuing with the private sector for better policy making.
Bilal Azhar Kayani said the economy has achieved stability over the last one and a half year. He mentioned that we have brought down the policy rate and inflation while the tax to GDP ratio has been increased. He said the country also posted current account surplus for the first time in fourteen years.
As regards privatization, the Minister of State for Finance pointed to the successful privatization of First Women Bank, expressing the confidence that progress on the privatization of PIA will also be seen next month.
